The #1 Conversion Killer in Your Copy (And How to Beat It)

troll 150x150

Have you ever went to a website with the intention of buying a product, signing up at a capture page but…end of leaving the page?  How many people do you think have done this on your own pages?

I found this awesome article from Copyblogger.com that reveals this hidden troll.

You know what I am talking about, the troll that is blocking the path from you and your customers from crossing the bridge and it drives your potential customers away.

In this article, Sonia Simone does an excellent job describing that evil troll and how to kill it.  As a home Internet business owner, I find that many of my peers have this same issue and I know just by reading this article can help clear up some of these problems immediately.

Sonia Simone is Senior Editor of Copyblogger and the founder of Remarkable Communication.

Do yourself a huge favor and read this article, The #1 Conversion Killer in Your Copy (And How to Beat It).

When you are finished reading this article, I would love to hear from you in the comment box below and let me know what you thought of this article.

Has the troll ever blocked your path?

Do you have any advice you can give to everyone on how you were able to kill the troll?

By the way… I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by.

  • Hey Tommy, I enjoyed the article, thanks for the link

I think the best advice is to be honest with your followers and build trust.

If your followers “know” you they will put their little troll away and finish the transaction.

    P.S. How was your vacation?

    Peter,

    Honesty always wins.

The vacation was great, it gave me a chance evaluate my business
and make some major changes. I sat by the pool all week and did nothing
but enjoy my time with my wife and kids.

I hope to one day move down to North Carolina, but for now it is back
    to business.

They will help me succeed and take off in this industry.

    Have a great weekend.

That’s why we do what we do, to sit by that pool with family.

  • Hi Tommy,

Thanks for sharing the great read. This paragraph summed it up:

“Trustworthiness, transparency, credible authority, lots of high-value content, and just plain old decency are your best weapons.”

I aim to follow each tip to a T. I’ve written ebooks, churned out frequent value-based blog posts and make myself as accessible as possible.

Only the most money-conscious people lack trolls. Each of us carries a little army of trolls which loses a soldier as we gain trust in someone.

    Ryan,

I am glad you enjoyed the article.

I like the way you put “we carry a little army of trolls”.
We really do and with experience, we can overcome

  • Hi Tommy,

Thanks for the great article link!

“Every detail matters. Even things like hosting your site on your own domain, or how frequently you post.”

So true! It all matters. Everything we do says something about us. What are you saying, when you’re not saying anything?

    Enjoy your weekend!

  • Hi Tommy,

thanks for bringing attention to ‘the troll’, I love the analogy.

Yes, our internal dialog (fears etc) can definitely affect the outcome.
If we can focus on the other and ask them questions, the conversation can flow easier.
My 5 cents worth in regards to your blog, apart from:
“Great stuff, keep up the good work” is a suggestion to set you video so people click to start it to play.

  • Nice meeting you Peter. I enjoy my emails from Sonia but I guess I missed this article on copyblogger.com Good analogy and definitely worth the read. I often get inspiration from reading their material and use many of the suggestions to write my own articles. I will be dropping by here more often and I am reminded that I have to get my welcome video done.
