smiles As a home business owner in MLM, your day
can be stressful, you have your ups and
downs and there will be times when you
may think this is not for you.

It would be nice to work a legitimate home business with a smile
every day, right?  Your attitude is extremely important and it
can make or break your career.

To be successful, one of the main components is a positive attitude.
One particular day, reminds me of taking any of those negative
thoughts and throwing them away.

Because stress is one of our biggest problems, being positive and
a simple smile can turn that frown upside down.

A Great Start
My day was filled was smiles yesterday as my wife and I celebrated
both our children’s birthdays. Kaitlyn is 7 years old and TJ is now
5 years old.

I wanted to use a few examples from this one day on how
the power of the smile can set a  positive tone.

I remember this because it was once mentioned from
a specific book, one of my favorites,  that I will reveal
sometime during this post.

The day was off to a great start because it was February 8th,
Kaitlyn and TJ were celebrating their birthdays.

The excitement was there, first the kids were
going to open their presents, I was going to share
their day at school by participating in Kaitlyn’s
first grade story time and then have a fun filled
family afternoon at the mall and dinner. My kids
love their birthdays and their excitement of the
morning put a huge smile on our faces and on
my face. It’s a great way to start off your day.

The term “Smile Big” is a confidence builder
that can help you rise from any disappointing
situation.

The example was from “The Magic of Thinking
Big by David J. Schwartz
“.

It was an exercise of five confidence-builders
that I loved. On page 72, Smile Big is a little
technique that can be used to build confidence
and destroy fear.  If my kids are not getting along
or they are not listening, instead of yelling at them,
try a big smile and ask them to stop.

The “BIG SMILE” works wonders.  We always end up laughing.

Laughing is one of the greatest stress relievers in the world.

I laugh out loud when I think about something my kids did
that was really funny a week ago or a month ago and it feels
really good.  It helps to be funny when ever the mood is dark
because it can  lighten up the atmosphere.  It was after 1pm
and I signed-in at the front desk.  When I walked into Kaitlyn’s
classroom, I didn’t know what to expect! Every single child
in that classroom had a glow to them, a smile that was never
ending, was it because I was getting out of some of their school
work? I doubt it, it was because they had a special visitor that
was going to share a special story.

That special visitor was Kaitlyn’s dad and I quickly found
out why I was special…

HE BROUGHT CUPCAKES, YEAAAAAA!

No, that wasn’t the only reason.  It was because of the stories
I was going to share with the class.  For Kaitlyn’s birthday,
I brought in two of her favorite stories to share with her
class.  Even though I was nervous, I was smiling and I set
the tone, Kaitlyn was smiling because she was

SO EXCITED

I was coming in to read and the kids were excited to have
a visitor for story time and  were looking forward to some
yummy cupcakes.

The Day Is Just Getting Started
My wife and I picked up the kids from school and we were
off to the mall.  It was going to be a busy birthday afternoon
at the mall.  First stop was Build-A-Bear, where the smiling
was in full effort.  It was close to Valentine’s Day and the kids
decided to build a Valentine’s Puppy.  We did some shopping
and walked around the mall for a few hours.  My daughter loves
stuffed animals and we got her a St.Patrick’s day puppy and then
decided to go out for dinner.

If there is one rule I learned about brining kids out for the day,
especially on their birthday because they will wake up early
because of the excitement, will not nap because of the excitement

BUT… they are not superheroes and walking in the mall is l
ike KRYPTONITE!!! The restaurant was not as delightful
as the rest of the day was.  My son was whinning and didn’t
want to eat and didn’t want to sit in his seat and was copying
every word his sister was saying

To get a rise out of her“.

So I picked up my little guy and bear hugged him and gave
him a million kisses.

He said with the biggest smile, “Daddy I love you”

and I smiled back at him. I kept that smile on the walk
to the car and the smile lasted until I went to sleep that night.

In life, stress tends to be one of our biggest problems
and that is why the ”Big Smile” is so important.  At the end
of our long day, the smiles can continue.  If you are in the car,
turn on LiteFM and adjust your seat and make yourself
comfortable (I don’t mean fall asleep, lol).   It does not have to
be a special day like my day was.  It should be part of your daily
routine, smile, stay postive and enjoy your life because you
only live it one.

So…SMILE!

    Hey Josh,

It’s extremely contagious. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Not to confuse you but I wrote this post on Feb. 8 and lately have been feeling inspired, so all these drafts that are sitting in Wordpress are finally getting my attention. Better late than never. :)

    Hi Benjamin,

Sounds good to me. That’s the spirit, it is so easy to get caught up with the moment and not think of the effect it can cause. I think it’s the Italian/Irish blood that fuels my temper, lol. Yet, I have worked very hard to overcome that and part of it is my kids. They give me a reason to smile. It doesn’t have to be kids, like you said it could be that you woke up today for a reason and that reason could be simple postitve message that helped someone else make it through their day.
Thanks for stopping by and have a greeeeeat day!

  • Hi Tommy,

Beautiful story! What a great dad you are! You’re right, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Enjoy those little rascals. They grow up so very fast!

    Have a gorgeous day!

    Thanks Ilka,

Its always a pleasure to read your comments. This story was a month in the making, started it February 8th and have been procrastinating. That is until I really started to follow everyone over at JB.com, its contagious how once you start to read an interesting post, an inspiring blog, how it rubs off and your ideas just open up. Brian Fanale said it best, we spend too much time thinking about what didn’t we do, instead of just doing it. So…just do it.

    Have a wonderful day!

I am going for the same best work from you in the future as well.

In fact your fanciful writing abilities has prompted me to start my own blog now.
Actually the blogging is spreading its wings rapidly. Your write up is a fine example of it.
